A Medical Supplier

Comtech Services has worked with the medical supplier for over three years to develop a methodology for designing and developing user-centered products. Starting with training in usability design and customer site investigations, Comtech assisted the company in creating a Usability Engineering Team. The team has conducted numerous site visits, following Comtech's user/task analysis methodology, and created user profiles, use scenarios, detailed design specifications, and task analyses that have guided prototype interface development for a variety of strategic corporate projects.

For on project, Comtech and the company's Usability Engineering Team conducted extensive, worldwide user investigations, visiting radiation therapists at their workplace to understand the dynamics of their interaction with the company's radiation therapy system. Based on the site visits and discussions with numerous industry experts inhouse, Comtech developed detailed use cases, user scenarios, user profile matrices, task listings, and other artifacts of the development process. The team, working with our graphic designers, developed paper prototypes of various interface concepts and conducted extensive informal usability tests to verify design ideas and make substantive changes in our conceptualization of a user-centered interface.
