Is your organization ready for the challenges of a slower economy? Is your management asking you to control costs, avoid increasing staff size, and ensure that you are adding value? Do you need to keep metrics that demonstrate, without a doubt, that you are running a "tight ship"? At the same time, are you concerned about the quality of the work you are delivering to customers?

A Process Maturity Audit provides you with the tools you need to advance your organization. SAP in Walldorf, Germany moved from a Level 1 to a Level 2.5 in a year following their first Process Maturity Audit. By increasing their Process Maturity level, they were able to institute a new structured writing program and implement it company wide.

The Audit compares your organization to the most effective in the business. By learning about industry leaders, like NCR's Teradata Division, which is a Level 4 in software development and a Level 4 in information development, you learn the best practices that help organizations succeed.

In 1993, we developed the first Information Process Maturity Model (IPMM) to aid information- and training-development organizations in assessing their internal practices.

The IPMM outlines the characteristics of five levels of process maturity:

  • Level 1: Ad Hoc
  • Level 2: Rudimentary
  • Level 3: Organized and Repeatable
  • Level 4: Managed and Sustainable
  • Level 5: Optimizing

The five levels parallel the process maturity levels used to assess the quality of software-development organizations, which are described in the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) of the Software Engineering Institute.

The Process Maturity Audit

How does it work?

Self-assessment questionnaire—The Process Maturity Audit begins with a self-assessment questionnaire for you and your key staff members.

On-site visit—Based on your responses, we plan with you an agenda for a typical two-day, on-site visit. During the visit, we meet with key staff members, managers, and stake holders, to ensure we are getting a comprehensive picture of your strengths and opportunities for improvement.

Comprehensive report—The final deliverables are a comprehensive analysis report and a recommendations presentation.

Comtech President, Dr. JoAnn Hackos, a recognized industry expert in organizational management and process improvement, will present our recommendations to your team members and your management.
