When SAP began to develop a Web-based application to support employee purchasing activities, Comtech handled the usability analysis. Real users from customer sites tried to perform real tasks with the prototype software. Programmers and engineers joined us as observers. We worked together to make changes to the design on the spot. The result—a Web product that people found easy to use. When Compaq Computer wanted to ensure that the new design for their B2C Web site was easy to navigate, they asked us to review the prototype design. We made significant recommendations to make the use scenarios more intuitive to consumers by eliminating the marketing point of view. The result—consumers could find the products they wanted more quickly and without barriers that they didn't need and didn't understand. When Battelle Labs wanted an intranet that employees could use to find policies and procedures quickly, they asked us to develop use scenarios and recommend modifications to their initial design. Working with You on Web DesignCustomer studies—for Cisco Systems, we conducted customer site visits and held focus groups to learn exactly how customers expected to find and use Cisco's information resources on the Web. We set up customer studies and deliver design personas based on real world analysis. Design projects—we work together with your team to develop a Web design that your customers will like to use. We include early and rapid prototyping, continuous user feedback during the design process, and iterative design that ensure that you have a great design in the shortest time possible. Usability assessment—find out exactly how your customers view your Web site. Watch them try to solve real world problems and listen to the places where they know what to do next and where they are confused. We work with you to plan use scenarios and test them through the prototypes or actual in-place systems. The result—usable Web sites that provide answers, not questions.
